Northland held 22-24 July 2011

 “...a focus on plantsmanship”

Presenters included ....

Robyn Simcock Robyn Simcock
Robyn has worked for Landcare Research since 1997 and has a doctorate in soils and ecology (Massey University).  As a member a government-funded team researching Low Impact Urban Design and Development, she designed, helped construct, monitored and maintained a variety of bio retention systems – rain gardens, swales and living roofs.
Mark Paul Mark Paul
As a teenager, Mark transformed an acre of land on a sloping site into a native (Australian) garden which included an extensive collection of epiphytes, all from seeds and cuttings. In his early years, he worked for CSIRO, Fisheries and Oceanography on estuaries and coral reefs, represented Australia in sail boarding and also applied his artistic design talents to a range of industries including sailboards and clothing.  In the early 90s Mark re-focused his passion towards landscape design and has built on the Ex-Parrot brand specialising in Greenwalls and Australian native gardens, Tropical Australasian gardens and water features.  Mark Paul is now recognised as a leader in Greenwall design and construction.
Guy Bowden Guy Bowden
Guy Bowden grew up on the property that is now Tawapou Native Nursery and has been passionate about NZ native plants all his life.  His interest was kindled by his conservationist parents who began protecting sections of native bush and pohutukawa on the Tutukaka coast over forty years ago.
Russell Fransham Russell Fransham
Russell is the creator of Russell Fransham Subtropicals, a magical garden at Matapouri Bay in Northland.  He is a well known specialist in new and unusual subtropical plants for NZ conditions.
Wiremu Diamond Wiremu Diamond
Wiremu is an established artist who has had a number of high profile exhibitions and public art commissions.  He has resurrected the art of Maori tool-making to illustrate the level of sophistication.
 Polly Williams

Polly Williams
With 13 years experience in internet marketing and almost as long living with a self employed landscape gardener Polly is uniquely placed to offer insight into how to use the Internet to market a small business.  This workshop will take you through the basic principles of using online tools such as search, social media and blogging to promote a small business and show you how - with a smal budget and some time - you can get this 'interweb' thing working for you!
